We had just arrived back at our apartment and received a call from the GI department at Barnes. The biopsy results are already back. Unfortunately, it isn't good news. The diagnosis is Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. What that means is he has Pancreatic cancer that has spread to his liver. We are looking at stage 4 cancer. Day one…

That was the day everything changed in our lives. I remember making that Caring Bridge post with tears streaming down my face. Rex, being the warrior God created him to be, was preparing for the fight of his life. Over the next year, I watched him press in close to Jesus and shine His light so brightly in even the darkest of days. He never lost faith. He was never angry with God. I asked him early on, “Why did this have to happen to you?” He was quick to respond with, “Why not me?” And that is precisely who my incredible husband was. He was selfless and had a heart for Jesus like no other.
